About APUSH Calculator

Empowering students with accurate AP US History score predictions, expert study insights, and authoritative guides.

Our Mission

The APUSH Score Calculator was created to help students understand their current performance level and predict their likely AP US History exam score. We believe that accurate self-assessment is crucial for effective exam preparation and student success, especially in navigating College Board scoring standards.

How It Works

Our calculator uses the official AP US History exam scoring methodology. You input your estimated performance on each section (MCQ, SAQ, DBQ, and LEQ), and we calculate your composite score based on the weighted percentages used by the College Board. The result gives you a predicted AP score from 1 to 5.

Sourcing Policy

Our calculations and study guides are vetted against primary historical documents, College Board Course and Exam Descriptions (CED), and peer-reviewed journals. We strictly reference official sources, such as College Board scoring rubrics and past released exam data, to ensure score thresholds reflect real student performance curves.

Scoring Methodology

The AP US History exam consists of four sections with different weights:

Multiple Choice Questions (40%) - 55 questions
Short Answer Questions (20%) - 3 questions (9 points total)
Document-Based Question (25%) - 1 question (7 points)
Long Essay Question (15%) - 1 question (6 points)

Understanding Your Score

AP scores range from 1 to 5:

5 - Extremely Well Qualified (75-100%)
4 - Well Qualified (60-74%)
3 - Qualified (45-59%)
2 - Possibly Qualified (30-44%)
1 - No Recommendation (0-29%)
